No one likes going to the car shop. It costs you money and you always feel like you're getting ripped off. Even if you get the fairest price imaginable, it still feels like someone is robbing you. What I found at Montrose Automotive Center was a willingness to help, a courteous manner and employees that were able to explain things in a straight forward manner without trying to bloat the price with unnecessary items. I was even offered a ride home when they accepted my car. I got the call with the estimate quickly after I arrived home. Then after hearing that I already had a lifetime alignment service elsewhere, they stressed the importance of getting it done immediately but were understanding and knocked a substantial (cost of alignment) amount off of my power steering rack replacement. There's not much we look for in a shop other than courtesy, reliability and fairness. I feel as though I found all of the above here and hope to continue doing business with this place.

"Shaky start but a happy ending" Start: I took my 2006 BMW 3 in for brake work on Thursday, 06-Dec-12. Initially there was some confusion as to the repair time needed. (I had called the day before to see how long the repairs would take & if I would need to rent a car? I was informed over the phone that the brake job would be quick & no rental would be necessary). Well, I had to rent a car because I was told at the counter that the repairs & a state inspection would take some time. Not a good start!!! Ending: I picked up my car later that day (around 5:30 pm) & everything was to satisfaction. No surprise charges or unauthorized work. And they applied my AAA discount! The owner was at the counter & was very polite, courteous & thankful. That made up for the initial confusion. I was pleased with the overall experience. Despite a shaky start, Montrose Tire & Auto came through in the end & delivered good work at a reasonable price with no surprise charges. I will continue to use them for future repairs & service.

I have been using Montrose Automotive for 5 years and intend to continue to do business with them. Every experience has been nothing short of superior! Everyone is overly helpful. I have had a variety of things done and it has always been done right, on time and as promised.

Phillip K is a fake, notice how his whole profile was put together in 1 day with hundreds of photos. I received excellent service from the owner and his team. Quickest oil change I've ever had. :)

Montrose Auto Center is your typical, scamming mechanic that will take advantage of you any chance they get. As a young, single girl with limited car knowledge, I'm already wary of mechanics. I brought my car in to Montrose Automotive Center for a brake inspection because I believed it was time for brake pad replacement. I was the second person at the shop in the morning but had to wait a couple hours before I received a call about my car. According to the mechanic, I needed new front brake pads AND new rotors, which would cost me about $500!!! I declined service that day and took my car to a well-known national company for a second opinion. Not only did I NOT even need new brake pads, but the mechanic SHOWED me how thick my brake pads were. He said I had several months left before I needed to replace them. I am never going back to Montrose A.C.

Honest shop; though I suggested that I may have transmission problems, they didn't take the bait in immediately suggesting work but actually diagnosed that I didn't require anything. Were willing to bend backwards to accommodate my crazy schedule, even going so far as volunteering to drop off my keys at my office in case I couldn't come back before the shop closed for the day. And they even inflated my tires without charging for it! Honest, helpful, and not-at-all expensive; would go back in a heartbeat.

HONEST, REAL DOWN TO EARTH PEOPLE!!!!! Being a young, female, BLONDE girl who drives a 1965 mustang that LOVES to have mysterious problems, im extremely skeptical about auto shops. Knowing i know little about cars, i know i am very easy to take advantage of. I did a lot of research on Yelp trying to find a good auto shop in Houston, and the reviews for Montrose tire and auto impressed me. So many people said how honest they were, so i decided to take my car there. The reviews were correct. They were extremely professional, matter of fact, and explained everything to me. They kept in contact me frequently to give me updates on my car. When i went to pick up my car, one of the employees actually pulled me outside and let me know that while they could fix a certain part on my car, i would probably find a cheaper deal if i went to an auto shop that specialized in just that!!! Can you really ask for any more honesty than that? I have taken my car back a few times and they have continued to be trustworthy and incredible.

THIS IS THE MOST HONEST AUTO CENTER IN HOUSTON. I can't imagine taking my car anywhere else. I went back again two days ago, and it just reaffirmed my previous review. Thank you so much Montrose Auto (esp Andrew?). Even my mom wants to fly down to Houston and thank you guys in person.

I had my car towed there Friday just as they were closing, and told them I needed my car by Monday. It was fixed within a day-- new radiator and new thermostat assembly. They had my only key, but they stayed until 4 on Saturday (an hour after closing) so that I could pick it up. Would definitely recommend.

How many times do you call the mechanic and cringe at the response that you get. Well let me tell you -- this little hole in the wall place - on Museum Row is a rare find. These staff is friendly, the service is incredible and the price is right. They provide a 'ride' to your destination while your auto is being serviced. Escape the norm and give these folks a chance. The owner is on-site daily and a sweetie. Oh BTW -- they are 'family friendly' :) Did you see they have a special deal for Yelpers?

So, today I stopped by Montrose Automotive Center (on the recommendation of a friend who had used them before) for something super minor and mostly just annoying -- my oil pan shield was hanging down on one side thanks to something that flew out from behind the car in front of me on the way to Houston ... that I could not avoid. In all seriousness, I would actually consider driving from my home in Austin to their garage if I needed repairs and my car was drivable. Crazy? Perhaps! But, it's no lie. Superb customer service! All it cost me was about 15 minutes of my day. It was so minor, I wasn't even charged. How often does THAT happen?! Everyone I spoke with was polite, and I really didn't have to wait very long despite not having an appointment and having shown up about 1.5 hours before they closed on a Saturday. It probably took them longer to lift my car than it did for them to repair the shield. I have since learned than one of the two gentlemen I spoke with is the owner, and I am always very pleased when owners are actively involved in their business. No doubt that is partially why the service is so good! Before I left, the other gentleman I was dealing with walked out to check the shield to ensure all was well. You know how 'they' say that you never get a second chance to make a first impression? Well ... I don't think I've ever experienced a first impression that was this impactful. Two thumbs up!

This is the best, most trustworthy auto shop I've even been to. They'll shoot you straight and always work hard to make the job as affordable as they can. Everyone I've ever worked with there is professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. They just do an all around exceptional job.

I've been using this repair shop on and off for about 6 years. Overall, they've done a great job and I'll definitely return if needed. They finish repairs in a timely fashion and are good communicators when it comes to explaining the needed repairs. When I have reported problems with prior repairs they've fixed the issue quickly and efficiently.

Going to the mechanic is about as much fun as having one's prostate examined. The irony of the central role of lube for both is not lost on me. To say that I'm skeptical of mechanics is an understatement. I EXPECT the worst from them, but I'm very pleased to say I received the very best from Montrose Tire & Auto. I needed coolant and an oil change, a simple need, but for the automotively illiterate such as myself it was as confusing as Mandarin (I've never studied Mandarin). I needed my vehicle right away, so I decided to have them add coolant, and come back later for the oil change. They added the coolant, and told me it was on the house, saying that it wasn't much coolant (they completely refilled my coolant), and saying hardly any labor was involved, and just to come back when I needed something! They also checked my oil level and added a little oil since I was very low on oil. All in all, the visit cost me $20, and the universally poor view I held of mechanics. Also, I am contemplating taking up Mandarin. I really need to emphasize that every single person I met there offered impeccable service. The thing is, I think good customer service was only part of it; they all seemed like genuinely good people. I even observed the owner, and by the way he spoke to his staff and customers - just the humble disposition he has - let's just say sometimes truly good people resonate with you. I'm coming here for all maintenance on my car. If they sold coffee and doughnuts I'd come here for that too. Good people, great service, no lube.
